clean living// preparing for birth

to say i have learned a lot about birth recently is an UNDERSTATEMENT. i had no idea how much there was to become aware of, and i am so beyond thankful for our doula, nina, who has opened up this whole new world to both jase and i. she has given us the most beautiful knowledge and perspective on birth. it has truly eliminated the fear and unknown attached to it and has replaced it with the feeling of empowerment, excitement, and awe.

I WANTED TO SHARE WITH YOU all the therapies i have incorporated for a healthy pregnancy and what i have integrated more recently to prepare for labor. they have been so helpful during this special journey, and in regards to birth, my doula has seen such smooth labor as a result from this body work.

TREATMENTS

i have been doing ayurvedic treatments prior to pregnancy, and it has been so wonderful to continue it during pregnancy as it reduces stress, decreases swelling and water retention, and relieves pain in the muscles and joints.

prenatal lymphatic drainage treatments have been so vital during my pregnancy as they enhance immunity, reduce water retention, and help the pregnancy feel more comfortable.

i have added in more specialized prenatal chiropractic care recently to align my body and my baby as birth is getting closer.

pelvic floor therapy is a great practice to add in as it helps decrease the damage of the muscles as you carry the weight of a baby and during birth, which results in an easier recovery post-birth.

PRACTICES

a practice: learning how to open your body and rest into waves of discomfort. it takes practice to avoid tightening your body during pain; sinking into it allows your body to innately undergo a smooth delivery.

sit on a bosu ball for 15 min a day. this opens your hips and strengthens your back. it also improves your posture which helps your baby to get into proper alignment for birth.

drink raspberry leaf tea to tone and strengthen the uterus.

eat up to six dates a day to soften the cervix. sex is great for this too!

walk daily; this opens the hips as you get closer to birth.

learn deep breathing routines and meditate; these will help tremendously during birth!
